BACK HERNIA
Back hernia is the state of displacement (shift) of the cartilage tissue from between two adjacent cervical vertebrae to the spinal canal. Thereby, the spinal cord and the nerves become compressed, and consequently, a back hernia occurs. It is commonly seen among middle-aged people and rare to be seen.
The spinal canal is thinner at the thoracal (back) region. For that reason, back hernia might compress the spinal cord easily. Weakness in legs, urinary and fecal incontinence, or urinary retention may be seen at the early stages of this illness. Surgical treatment is needed in these cases as early as possible.
